Fifth Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the sitting held on 17 February, the Culture and Information Committee discussed the Information on the election of members of the Council of the Broadcasting Agency for the second time.

At the sitting held on 17 February, the Culture and Information Committee discussed the Information on the election of members of the Council of the Broadcasting Agency for the second time. The reason for the Information reappearing on the agenda is the fact that the conclusion from the previous Committee sitting had not been realised in due time, according to which the authorised submitters were supposed to submit a finalised list of candidates for Broadcasting Agency Council members within additional 15 days, containing two candidates, as proscribed by the Broadcasting Act.

The Committee members exchanged opinions on possibly repeating the entire process, to have the Committee call a public competition according to the same procedure and appeal to the submitters to submit a candidate list this time. All participants in the debate were unanimous in the estimate that the Committee should avoid finding itself in the position to arbitrate when choosing candidates for RBA Council members.

It was agreed that the Committee pass the final conclusion at the next sitting, when the Committee members from opposition parties absent from this sitting because they were taking part in the sitting of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija in Zvecan, are present.

The sitting was chaired by Vesna Marjanovic, Committee Chairperson.
