At the sitting held on 26 December, the Finance Committee discussed in detail the Bill on the Budget of the Republic of Serbia for 2009. The Committee members also debated the amendments submitted to the bills amending and modifying the Property Tax Law, amending and modifying the Excise Tax Law, amending and modifying the Customs Tariff, amending and modifying the Law on Republic Administrative Fees, on temporary tax exemption from Personal Income Tax to specific types of income, amending and modifying the Mandatory Social Insurance Contributions Law and amending the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Deputy Chairperson, Branka Ljiljak.

Out of the 248 amendments submitted to the Bill on the Budget of the Republic of Serbia for 2009 by the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the deputies, the Finance Committee members accepted 17. The Committee submitted an amendment of its own to article 3 section A of the Bill, which was accepted on the behalf of the Government by the Minister of Finance at the Committee sitting.

The deputies submitted 4 amendments total to the Bill amending and modifying the Property Tax Law. The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Finance Committee did not accept any of them.

The Committee accepted 5 of the 30 amendments total submitted to the Bill amending and modifying the Excise Tax Law submitted by the deputies and the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The Finance Committee submitted an amendment of its own to article 22 paragraph 1 of the Bill, which the Government accepted.

The deputies submitted 6 amendments total to the Bill amending and modifying the Customs Tariff. The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Finance Committee did not accept any of the submitted amendments.

The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the deputies submitted 32 amendments total to the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Republic Administrative Fees. The Finance Committee accepted one amendment.

The deputies submitted 3 amendments to the Bill on temporary tax exemption from Personal Income Tax to specific types of income. The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Finance Committee did not accept the submitted amendments.

To the Bill amending and modifying the Mandatory Social Insurance Contributions Law, the deputies submitted 3 amendments total. The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Finance Committee did not accept the submitted amendments.

One amendment was submitted to the Bill amending the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, which the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Finance Committee did not accept.
