The Culture and Information Committee held a public hearing with the topic: Public interview with the proposed candidates for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM), at the National Assembly today.
In addition to the members of the Culture and Information Committee, the public hearing was also attended by MPs who are not members of the Committee, the proposed candidates for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, representatives of the OSCE Office, delegations of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway, as well as representatives of the authorised nominators.
The following candidates for members of the REM Council introduced themselves to the participants of the public hearing: Sasa Mirkovic and Stevica Smederevac, nominated by the representatives of the Ombudsman, Commissioner for Protection of Equality and the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection; Sanja Andjelkovic and Mevljud Dudic, nominated by representatives of churches and religious communities; Tanja Vojvodic-Mitrovic and Jovana Vitez, nominated by representatives of the electronic media publishers' association; Dejan Vuk Stankovic and Petar Kocic, nominated by representatives of the journalists' associations; Milorad Vukasinovic and Zoran Jevtovic, nominated by representatives of accredited universities; Zeljko Hubac and Leontina Pat, nominated by representatives of the associations of film, stage and drama artists and the association of composers; Dusan Aleksic and Aleksandra Krstic, nominated by representatives of associations concerned with child protection; Dubravka Valic Nedeljkovic and Rodoljub Sabic, nominated by representatives of associations whose field of activity is freedom of expression; and Istvan Bodzoni and Muhedin Fijuljanin, nominated by national councils of national minorities.
Following the introduction, the participants of the public hearing proceeded to interview the candidates.
At the end of the public hearing, the Chairperson of the Culture and Information Committee Nevena Dujric thanked all the participants for the extensive and comprehensive discussion.
