The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, stated today that Serbia will continue to pursue a balanced and responsible foreign policy aimed at preserving national interests, respecting international law, positioning itself to ensure safety and security for citizens, and building bridges of cooperation with all partners, regardless of the complex geopolitical challenges surrounding the region and the world.
At the conference "Belgrade Strategic Dialogue: Serbia - United States - Israel Partnership" organised by the Serbian-American Friendship Congress at the Serbian National Assembly, Brnabic said that President Aleksandar Vucic and the Government will have the Parliament’s full support in this.
"We will continue to promote dialogue and respect for diversity, because we firmly believe that these are the foundations of stability, peace and prosperity both in our region and beyond," emphasised the Serbian Parliament Speaker.
She said that Serbia remains consistently committed to preserving peace and stability, primarily in the region, which certainly lacks no history, nor complexity in the present, as well as on the international level.
"We will always strive to understand and respect different perspectives and positions and to encourage cooperation that will contribute to reducing tensions and a safer, better future for all," Brnabic said.
She pointed out that today's gathering promotes dialogue, parliamentary cooperation, and exchange of experiences, with the aim of contributing to greater understanding of stability and constructive partnership in an increasingly complex international environment.
"The cooperation we are developing should enable all of us to better understand the challenges and opportunities in our regions and beyond, which there are certainly many and it seems there are more every day," Brnabic said.
She pointed out that today the entire world needs conversation more than anything else, but also the courage to try to understand different views and arguments.
"Parliaments around the world exist to contribute to a greater understanding of open communication, stability and sustainable development," she said.
She thanked the Parliament of the State of Israel, the Knesset, for the hospitality and respect they showed the Serbian delegation during their recent visit and emphasised that she expects Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana to visit Serbia in the coming period.
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana addressed the gathering via video message, saying that last week he had the pleasure of hosting Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic and that the visit strengthened the strong ties between Serbia and Israel.
