20th Sitting of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction

At the sitting held on 21 April, the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction discussed, in principle, the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Employment and Unemployment Insurance, submitted by the Government.

The representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Assistant Minister Ljiljana Dzuver, Sanja Gavrilovic and Jelena Kilibarda, elaborated the Bill, stressing that the proposed amendments and modifications contribute to the reorganisation of the National Employment Service and redesign of employment measures i.e. they enable the creation of new measures and programmes to fit the needs of local self-governments. For the purposes of rationalisation and austerity measures, it was also proposed to reduce the number of National Employment Service Management Board members from the existing nine to seven, said Ljiljana Dzuver. The proposed amendments to the Law aim to set up a system of continuous development of the capacities of the National Employment Service employees in order to raise the quality of the service to the employers and the unemployed.
Following a short discussion, the Committee members unanimously accepted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Employment and Unemployment Insurance, in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Vesna Rakonjac, Committee Chairperson.
