15th Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society
At the sitting held on 15 January, the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society reviewed the Proposed Candidate List for the Election of Members of the National Council for Higher Education.
The Committee noted that the candidate lists had been submitted by the authorised submitters, pursuant to Article 10 of the Law on Higher Education. The Committee decided to forward the established candidate lists to the National Assembly as a collective list for the election of 21 members of the National Council for Higher Education, for a four-year term, with the request that the National Assembly deliberate on the list by urgent procedure.
The Committee members forwarded a proposal to the competent Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues asking for an authentic interpretation of Article 13, Paragraph 3, Item 5 of the Law on the Basis of the System of Education and Upbringing, relating to the election procedure for the National Education Council members.
The Committee went on to set up a Working Group for the processing of civic petitions, with Committee member Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic as its coordinator.
