10th Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 12th Legislature

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic convened the 10th Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in its 12th legislature for Wednesday, 9 February 2022, starting at 5 pm.

The following agenda was adopted for the sitting:

  1. Promulgation of the Act amending the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia and Constitutional Law for the implementation of the Act amending the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia.
The National Assembly sitting was attended by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic, Minister of Justice Maja Popovic, Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue Gordana Comic, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation Jasmina Vasovic, President of the Constitutional Court Snezana Markovic, Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor Branko Stamenkovic, members of the Working Group for the Drafting of the Act to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic and members of the diplomatic corps.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic reminded the attending that at the Eighth Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in its 12th legislature on 30 November 2021, by two-thirds majority, the National Assembly passed the Act on the amendment of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, Constitutional Law for the implementation of the Act on the amendment of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia and the Decision to call a republic referendum to confirm the Act on the amendment of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia.

As according to the overall result of the republic referendum as ascertained by the Republic Electoral Commission on 4 February 2022, 1, 189, 460 voters had voted “YES” in the republic referendum to confirm the Act on the amendment of the Constitution of Republic of Serbia, which makes up the majority of the voter turnout, pursuant to Article 203, paragraph 8 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, the Act amending the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia is considered adopted.

As all conditions prescribed by the Constitution and law under Article 203, paragraph 9 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia and Article 42, paragraph 1 of the Law on Referendum and People’s Initiative have been met, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia promulgated the Act amending the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia and Constitutional Law for the implementation of the Act amending the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic, concluded the 10th Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 12th Legislature.

The choir of the Serbian Armed Forces performed national anthem of the Republic of Serbia.
