10th Sitting of the European Integration Committee
At the sitting held on 14 November 2016, the members of the European Integration Committee deliberated on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Seizure and Confiscation of Proceeds from Crime, in principle.
Jovan Cosic said that what is important for the Committee, concerning the purview of the authorities implementing the Law, is the obligation stipulated in Chapter 24 that the Financial Investigation Unit establish an Asset Recovery Office which is to handle claims within international legal aid.
As regards harmonisation with EU regulations, he stressed that the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Seizure and Confiscation of Proceeds from Crime complies with all six sources of EU law.
Following a debate the European Integration Committee members adopted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Seizure and Confiscation of Proceeds from Crime, in principle, by majority vote.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Marinika Tepic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Vesna Markovic, Zarko Micin, Marko Blagojevic, Biljana Pantic Pilja, Zvonimir Djokic, Dragan Sormaz, Branko Ruzic, Petar Jojic, Jovan Jovanovic, Maja Videnovic, Muamer Bacevac, Mladen Grujic and Balint Pasztor.
