Assembly house was the venue for the ‘Slovakia – An example of successful integration’ seminar, organised by the European Integrations Committee of the National Assembly, and the Slovak Pontis Foundation.

Welcoming the participants, the chairperson of the European Integrations Committee, Suzana Grubjesic, underlined that Slovakia was a good example of a nation that successfully joined European integrations, completed transition, and achieved dynamic economic growth thanks to good legislation. She pointed out similarities in Serbia’s and Slovakia’s development, and underlined that Serbia was interested in quick integration into the European family of nations. The most important tasks on that road are modernising the economy and increasing its competitiveness, and, consequently, increasing living standards and achieving values shared by all European countries.

The seminar’s attendees, deputies and National Assembly staff, were addressed by Slovak experts in areas important for EU integrations – Professors at the Schools of Economics and Law, Dr Peter Weiss and Dr Lubomir Fogas.

Dr Weiss spoke about harmonising Slovak legislation with EU law, while Dr Fogas used his country’s experiences to outline foreign policy needs for successful European integration.
