Zukorlic and Spasojevic Discuss Youth and Sports with Udovicic

The National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society Dr Muamer Zukorlic and MP Goran Spasojevic, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Youth and Sports, met with Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic at the National Assembly House to discuss future cooperation on the drafting of legislation concerning youth and sports.

Minister Udovicic informed his hosts that work has begun on the preparation of a draft law to amend the Law on Prevention of Doping in Sports, which he expects would soon find its way into parliamentary procedure.

He also expressed hope that a law on sports and law on youth would be subject of parliamentary debate by the end of 2021.

Zukorlic informed the Minister that a Subcommittee on Youth and Sports has been formed within the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society, which aims to consider and monitor the implementation of draft laws and other acts in the field of sports and youth and constructively participate in their drafting.

In the conversation with the Minister, Zukorlic and Spasojevic opined that the youth is a strategic category for the country and the nation, one that should be ideologically profiled and steered toward education and sports.

The officials agreed that the National Assembly is the right venue to organise public hearings with constructive debates on current topics, for example the draft law on youth and sports, in which the MPs, relevant institutions and factors would take an active part to come up with the best possible legislation.
