Twenty-Third Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 9 February, the Foreign Affairs Committee considered the Report on the International Cooperation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2010.


The Committee members agreed that that year the National Assembly was very active in the international sphere which continued into the 2011, and accepted the Report with some objections and suggestions.

The Committee considered and endorsed the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Hellenic Parliament which the speakers of the two parliaments are to sign around mid-February in the course of the visit of the Hellenic Parliament Speaker.

Within item parliamentary cooperation, the Committee considered and accepted several initiatives for visits. It accepted the initiatives for the visits of the delegation of the Mexican Parliament’s Mexico-Serbia Friendship Group and Danish Parliament’s Foreign Policy Committee Chairman, as well as to hold the 38th meeting of the Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Novi Sad from 18 to 19 April.

It accepted the invitations extended to the members of the National Assembly’s Friendship Group with Romania to visit Bucharest from 21 to 23 February 2012, as well as to send a National Assembly delegation to the 126th session of the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Kampala from 31 March to 5 April and Thirty-Eighth Meeting of the Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Varna on 14 and 15 March.

In addition, the Committee accepted the invitation extended to the standing delegation of the National Assembly to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to take part of at the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Tallinn (Estonia) from 25 to 28 May.

The Committee accepted several reports on the parliamentary visits and contacts realised with foreign parliamentarians and diplomatic representatives.

At the sitting, the Committee accepted the proposals to complete the composition of the friendship groups with Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovakia and the United States of America.

The sitting was chaired by Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic, Committee Chairman.
