Twenty-First Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee
At the sitting held on 9 June, the Foreign Affairs Committee interviewed the newly-appointed ambassadors of the Republic of Serbia to Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iraq before their departure for diplomatic duty. The sitting was chaired by Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic, Committee Chairman.
The newly-appointed Serbian Ambassador to Italy Ana Hrustanovic presented the programme of the Embassy’s future activities. She stressed that Italy is one of our most important European partners and that there would be some significant activity in that area, particularly as regards the two countries’ cooperation in the field of energy production. She pointed out that Italy supports Serbia’s accession to the European Union as well as that of the other Western Balkan countries.
The new Serbian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ninoslav Stojadinovic pointed out the complex situation in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina considering its structure and presence of foreign elements. Ambassador Stojadinovic presented the basic directions of his future efforts.
Speaking of priorities, Serbia’s new Ambassador to Iraq Radisav Petrovic said that our country is interested in strengthening economic cooperation with Iraq, especially boosting our export, as well as improving political cooperation.
Within item Parliamentary cooperation, the Committee accepted the initiatives for the participation of the Head of the National Assembly’s Standing Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative Parliamentary Dimension Ivan Jovanovic at the meeting of foreign ministers and standing delegation heads of the expanded three member states in Trieste on 10 June, as well as the National Assembly’s Standing Delegation to the Black Sea Economic Cooperation PA at the meeting of the Working Group for the amendment of the PABSEC Rules of Procedure held in Istanbul on 13 and 14 June. In addition, they accepted the initiatives to send delegations to the 9th Conference of Parliament Speakers of the South East European Co-operation Process in Becici from 13 to 15 June and meetings of the Mediterranean PA special task forces for the Middle East, environment and climate change, energy, water, gender issues and migration in Dubrovnik on 19 and 20 June.
They also accepted the invitations extended to the National Assembly delegations to take part in the 18th annual session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy to be held in Paris from 21 to 23 June and 77th Rose-Roth Seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Tromso (Norway) from 22 to 24 June.
A delegation of the National Assembly will take part in the 37th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Brussels from 11 to 13 July.
They also endorsed the initiatives for the chairmen of the foreign affairs and European integrations committees to take part in the 6th Croatia Summit in Dubrovnik from 8 to 9 July, as well as to send the Chairman of the Committee on Science and Technological Development to the World Science Forum to be held in Budapest from 16 to 19 November.
At the sitting, the Committee adopted several reports on the parliamentary visits and contacts realised with foreign parliamentarians and diplomatic representatives.
