At the sitting held on 4 March, the Committee on Defence and Security discussed the Bills on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Councils of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro and the Government of the Republic of Slovakia on cooperation in the field of defence, and the Agreement on cooperation in the field of defence between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria. The Committee sitting was chaired by Ivica Dacic.

Elaborating the bills, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Dusan Spasojevic, stressed that all these agreements represent a legal basis for bilateral military cooperation, adding that they are typical agreements which have already received a positive opinion from the Serbian Government.

After the completion of the joint discussion, the Committee members decided to propose that the Serbian National Assembly adopt the two Bills.

Chairman Dacic informed the Committee members that he had requested urgent reports on the current state of defence in the Republic of Serbia after the unilateral, illegal and unconstitutional declaration of independence of Kosovo and Metohia on 17 February, from the relevant Ministries of Defence and Interior, as well as the Military Security, Military Intelligence and Security-Information Agencies. Under article 75, paragraph 5 of the National Assembly’s Rules of Procedure, provisions of the Law on the basic organisation of security services of the Republic of Serbia and the Law on the Police Force, Dacic announced that these reports will be on the agenda of the next sitting, when he will also request the answers to several specific questions posed at this sitting.
