Tunisian Ambassador Designate Believes Foreign Minister’s Visit Will Be Beneficial

The Head and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Tunisia met with the Tunisian Ambassador Designate H.E. Seyf Allah Rejeb to discuss the Tunisian Foreign Minister’s upcoming visit to Serbia.

On the behalf of National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic the meeting was attended by Chief-of-Staff Miroslav Sestovic who welcomed the Ambassador Designate and wished him a fruitful and pleasant stay in Serbia, sure that he would help advance the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Seyf Allah Rejeb informed the attending that he has not yet officially taken the office of Ambassador and is to present his credentials to the President on Monday. He added that he would make strengthening bilateral parliamentary relations a priority.

The Head of the PFG with Tunisia Dragomir Karic thanked the Ambassador Designate and Tunisia for their principled stance on Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and non-recognition of the self-declared independence of the southern Serbian province, as well as its clear support during AP Kosovo’s attempts to join international organizations. Karic said he was sure the two countries would continue their successful cooperation, as the bilateral meetings of the leading statesmen would clearly prove. He said there was room to advance economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in the fields of agriculture and tourism, which the rest of the PFG members agreed with. Karic concluded saying that the PFG would spare no effort to advance parliamentary cooperation and overall bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador Designate reaffirmed that Tunisia stands by the UNSC Resolution 1244, international law and Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and will continue to keep Serbia’s side during Kosovo’s attempts to join international organizations. He briefed the attending on the Tunisian Foreign Minister’s upcoming visit, after so many years, which will prove important for the strengthening of relations between the states and their people, adding his belief that the meetings at all the levels of legislative and executive power would significantly contribute to the improvement of overall relations.
