Thirty-Fifth Sitting of the Gender Equality Committee

The Gender Equality Committee held its thirty-fifth sitting 9 November 2011, in the form of a seminar, to review the gender analysis of the National Employment Strategy.


The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Gordana Paunovic-Milosavljevic and attended by representatives of the OSCE Mission to Serbia.

Commenting on the National Employment Strategy, its goals and the activity plan for its realisation, the consultants of the OSCE Mission to Serbia stressed that it showed the existence of inequality in employment, as well as unequal income distribution in Serbia. Increasing employment, stimulating employment in less developed regions and employment policy development, improving the quality of human capital and development of institutional capacities should be the basic strategic goals the Republic of Serbia should aim for by 2020, stressed OSCE Mission consultant Biljana Maletin.

The Committee members asked how inequality could be prevention through the analysis of measures and increased inter-sector cooperation and agreed to hold a seminar on Local Gender Equality and Gender Budgeting Mechanisms.
