Thirteenth Sitting of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija
The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija, Dejan Radenkovic convened the thirteenth sitting of the Committee for 22 April with one item on the agenda: the responsibility of the Chairman of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija for the Committee’s work.
The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija, Dejan Radenkovic convened the thirteenth sitting of the Committee for 22 April with one item on the agenda: the responsibility of the Chairman of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija for the Committee’s work. The sitting was convened under article 77, paragraph 2 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, at the request of eight members of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija.
In the discussion, it was stressed that the intention behind the convocation of the sitting was not to relieve the Committee Chairman of duty, but to discuss how to improve the Assembly body’s functioning. It was estimated that the Committee functions poorly as a consequence of insufficient and inadequate communication between the Chairman and Committee members, particularly in the case of venue and agenda of the sittings. Therefore, it was suggested that it is necessary to reach an agreement among all the deputy groups when preparing the sittings and that the sittings be well prepared so that they would not be held without a quorum.
The Committee concluded, by a majority of votes, that in future the Committee Chairman should reach an agreement with the Committee members from all the deputy groups comprising it, on the venue and agenda for the Committee sittings. The next Committee sitting dealing with the 2009 Work and Development Plan of the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija, was scheduled for 29 April.
The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Ljubomir Kragovic.
