Third Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the sitting held on 24 November, the members of the Culture and Information Committee established the List of candidates for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media proposed by the competent National Assembly Committee.

Committee Chairperson Sandra Bozic informed the members that on 6 November the parliamentary groups and the MPs not belonging to any parliamentary group were issued a public invitation to nominate candidates for REM Council members with a 15-day deadline for submission of two candidates to the Committee. Only the “Aleksandar Vucic – For Our Children” Parliamentary Group responded to the invitation and the Committee established a candidate list for REM Council members comprising two names – Olivera Zekic and Milos Gajovic.

The Committee also established the List of candidates for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media and the List of organizations that together form a single authorized submitter, proposed by churches and religious communities. The Serbian Orthodox Church, Islamic Community of Serbia, Belgrade Archdiocese, Jewish Religious Community, Evangelical Christian Church and Slovak Evangelical Church submitted the proposal of two REM Council candidates by mutual agreement – Aleksandra Jankovic and Snezana Miljkovic. The Committee Chairperson said that the Committee would, at the next sitting, publically interview the candidates nominated by churches and religious communities.

The Committee went on to unanimously establish the final proposal of two candidates for member of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media proposed by the competent Culture and Information Committee. As the established List of candidates proposed by the competent Culture and Information Committee already has two candidates, the final proposal of two candidates for REM Council member that the Committee sends to the National Assembly for consideration and adoption comprises Olivera Zekic and Milos Gajovic.
