Third Sitting of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region

At the sitting held on 1 December 2025, the members of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region were presented a Report on the Committee’s activities between the second and third sitting. Committee Chairman Dragan Stanojevic, pointed out that during the aforementioned period, the Committee had carried out a series of activities aimed at strengthening cooperation with Serbian communities around the world, improving cultural and historical diplomacy, as well as deepening relations with institutions and organisations in the region and abroad.

At the initiative of Ambassador Dr Ljiljana Niksic, the Committee hosted history professors from Madrid. On the occasion, the Committee Chairman presented Serbia's activities in the field of the culture of remembrance, as well as the state of the Serbian diaspora, emphasising the challenges of assimilation, discrimination and the importance of combating historical revisionism. The guests were presented with honorary charters and a map of the genocide against Serbs in World War II.

The Committee also hosted the promotion of the monograph and the ceremonial opening of an exhibition dedicated to Count Sava Vladislavich. The monograph "Count Sava Vladislavich - 300 Years Since the Founding of Troitskosavsk" was presented on 21 October 2025, as part of the "Moscow Days in Serbia" event. The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, the scientific and cultural public, as well as descendants of Vladislavich.

During the reporting period, the Committee held several meetings, participated in relevant gatherings, anniversaries, conferences and official trips. The activities were carried out with the aim of strengthening Serbia's ties with the diaspora, preserving national identity and promoting the cultural and historical heritage of the Serbian people.

The Committee members were also addressed by Ambassador Ljiljana Niksic, who spoke about joint projects implemented in cooperation with the Committee. The Committee Chairman emphasised that the Committee will continue to act within its competence in the interest of the Serbian people in the region and abroad in the coming period.

The Committee Chairman also expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that the Assembly of the Serbian Diaspora was held in the National Assembly House, organised by Minister without Portfolio Djordje Milicevic, about which no member of the Committee was informed. The Committee members agreed that it was necessary to determine how this omission occurred, so that similar situations would not be repeated in the future.

In the discussion, the Committee members made suggestions regarding the proposed activities in the coming period, especially regarding fostering a culture of remembrance for the victims of the genocide against Serbs, Roma and Jews in the NDH.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dragan Stanojevic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Bojan Torbica, Radovan Tvrdisic, Vladimir Pajic, Aleksandar Cotric, Aleksandar Pavic, Miodrag Linta, Aleksandar Djukic, Jadranka Jovanovic, Dusan Maric, Marko Mladenovic, Natasa Mihajlovic and Mirka Lukic Sarkanovic.
