Third Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly in 2012

At the request of 130 MPs, National Assembly Speaker MA Nebojsa Stefanovic convened the Third Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2012, for Tuesday, 24 July 2012, starting at 3:30 pm.


The request to hold the session specified the following agenda:

  1. Bill on Ministries, submitted by 126 MPs,
  2. Bill amending the Law on Government, submitted by 126 MPs, and
  3. Bill amending the Law on the Bases Regulating Security Services of the Republic of Serbia, submitted by 126 MPs.

By a majority of votes, the National Assembly accepted the proposal of MP Jorgovanka Tabakovic to complete a joint debate in principle on all three items on the agenda.

The bills were explained by MP Jorgovanka Tabakovic, as representative of the submitters.

By the end of the day, the MPs had concluded the joint debate in principle on the Bill on Ministries, Bill amending the Law on Government and the Bill amending the Law on the Bases Regulating Security Services of the Republic of Serbia.

On the second day of work, 26 July, the National Assembly conducted a debate on the particulars on the Bill on Ministries, Bill amending the Law on Government and the Bill amending the Law on the Bases Regulating Security Services of the Republic of Serbia.

Before moving on to the discussion, MP Bojan Djuric requested information and explanations, in line with Article 287 of the Rules of Procedure.

In the course of the proceedings, based on the Decision of the Republic Electoral Commission on the allocation of MPs’ terms of office for the purpose of filling vacant seats at the National Assembly and the report of the Committee on Administrative, Budgetary, Mandate and Immunity Issues, the National Assembly noted the verification of the terms of office of the following MPs: Dr Aleksandar Radojevic,Milan Kovacevic, Zeljko Susec and Milanka Jevtovic-Vukojicic, elected from the LET'S GET SERBIA MOVING - TOMISLAV NIKOLIC Electoral List, Radoslav Milovanovic, elected from the CHOICE FOR BETTER LIFE - BORIS TADIC Electoral List, Aleksandar Pejcic, Dejan Mihajlov and Gorica Gajic, elected from theDEMOCRATIC PARTY OF SERBIA - VOJISLAV KOSTUNICA Electoral List and Enis Imamovic, elected from thePARTY OF DEMOCRATIC ACTION OF SANDZAK - Dr Sulejman Ugljanin Electoral List.

The National Assembly Speaker, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic invited the newly-elected MPs to take the oath of office, in line with Article 17 of the Law on the National Assembly. As the MPs took the oath of office, the National Assembly Speaker congratulated them, wishing them success in their joint efforts in the upcoming mandate period.

After recess, the National Assembly conducted the debate on the particulars on the bills.

As the National Assembly had concluded the debate on all the items on the agenda, National Assembly Speaker MA Nebojsa Stefanovic set Thursday, 26 July 2012, as Voting Day on the items on the agenda for the Third Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2012, starting at 4:25 pm.

Voting Day

On Voting Day, 26 July 2012, the National Assembly adopted the Bill on Ministries, Bill amending the Law on Government and the Bill amending the Law on the Bases Regulating Security Services of the Republic of Serbia by a majority of votes.

As the National Assembly had completed the discussion on all the items on the agenda and ruled on them, National Assembly Speaker MA Nebojsa Stefanovic concluded the Third Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2012.
