At the tenth sitting, held on 26 May, the Culture and Information Committee considered the Information on the election of members of the Programme Board of the Broadcasting Institution of Serbia from the ranks of deputies. The sitting was chaired by Vesna Marjanovic, Committee Chairperson.
Elaborating the information, the Committee Chairperson reminded the members that the Serbian Broadcasting Institution Programme Board is an advisory body consisting of 19 members elected by the National Assembly for a period of three years and who cannot be re-appointed. Seven board members are elected by the National Assembly from the ranks of deputies, and 12 are elected at the proposal of the RBA, from the ranks of professional associations, scientific institutions and religious communities. The term of office of five Programme Board members elected from the ranks of deputies had expired on 25 May, and of the remaining two is to expire on 29 September.
With this in mind, the Culture and Information Committee adopted a conclusion to invite all deputy groups at the National Assembly to nominate candidates for five Programme Board members proportionally to the number of deputies they have at the National Assembly. Compromise is vital for the nomination of candidates, Vesna Marjanovic said and suggested as a possibility that three candidates be nominated by the governing majority, and two by the opposition. In addition, she stated that she will write to the National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic asking that the proposal of this decision be included into an agenda for a National Assembly sitting and members of the Programme Board of the Broadcasting Institution of Serbia from the ranks of deputies be elected as soon as possible.
