Talks on solving issues of Roma status
The chairman of the Committee on Inter-ethnic Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Esad Dzudzevic, today met Council of Europe expert Judith Kiers, who is on a visit to Serbia and Montenegro as part of "Roma and the Stability Pact", a project set up jointly by the Council of Europe, OSCE's Human Rights Office and the Stability Pact for South-eastern Europe.
The chairman of the Committee on Inter-ethnic Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Esad Dzudzevic, today met Council of Europe expert Judith Kiers, who is on a visit to Serbia and Montenegro as part of "Roma and the Stability Pact", a project set up jointly by the Council of Europe, OSCE's Human Rights Office and the Stability Pact for South-eastern Europe.
The talks focused on possibilities for the Committee on Inter-ethnic Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to play an active role in solving issues of Roma status and rights in Serbia.
Possible ways of co-operation in this important field were also under discussion, as it poses a problem for the entire region. It was agreed to discuss the project’s final report at a session of the Committee on Inter-ethnic Relations, and then forward it, accompanied by the Committee's conclusions, to the National Assembly for discussion.
