Strong Interparliamentary Cooperation Key to Good Overall Relations

Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic met today at the National Assembly House with the Georgian Ambassador to Serbia on non-residential basis Ioseb Nanobashvili, to discuss the National Assembly delegation’s upcoming visit to the Georgian Parliament.

The Committee Chairman stressed that strong interparliamentary cooperation is key for good overall relations and the upcoming visit of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee and the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Georgia would open a new chapter in the relations between Serbia and Georgia. Obradovic added that besides strengthening parliamentary relations, there is ample room to expand economic relations, at mutual benefit.

The Ambassador said that, in view of the similarity between two countries, the visit of the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Georgia to the Georgian Parliament, followed by National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic who is expected to visit the Georgian Parliament at the invitation of the Speaker, would prove exceptionally important for the improvement of interparliamentary and overall bilateral relations. The Ambassador agreed with Obradovic that economic cooperation should be intensified in the coming period though meetings of economic delegations, economic forums and signing of bilateral relations, as should the cooperation in the field of tourism.
