Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation to Bolster Ties between Serbia and Syria
The Head of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with Syria Milos Terzic, met today at National Assembly House with the Charge d'Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Belgrade, Ousman Saab.
Saab congratulated Terzic on his election as Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Syria, hoping that in the coming period the two parliaments would significantly improve cooperation and inviting the members of the National Assembly to visit the Syrian Parliament as soon as possible.
Saab informed the PFG Head and members about the current situation in Syria, emphasizing that the country has managed to defeat terrorism and is ready to fight until all its territories are liberated. He stressed that Syria would continue to support the territorial sovereignty and integrity of the Republic of Serbia and would always see it as a friend.
Terzic said that Syria has Serbia’s full support in the fight against terrorism and thanked the country for its principled position on the issue of Kosovo-Metohija. He added that the Syrian people enjoy great sympathy in Serbia and expressed hope that Syria would emerge stronger from the period of the conflict and that the country’s rebuilding would be even more efficient. He in turn invited the colleagues from the Syrian Parliament, agreeing that strengthening parliamentary cooperation can greatly contribute to the general improvement of relations between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Archimandrite Prokopije Tajar from the Patriarchate of Antioch, and members of the PGP with Syria Luka Kebara and Djordje Todorovic.
