The workshop is organized to mark the 20th anniversary of the United Nation’s Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing 1995, when the so-called Beijing Declaration and platform for action were adopted. In 2004 the OSCE adopted the action plan for the promotion of gender equality based on the Beijing platform for action. The workshop will be dedicated to the progress made in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration in the part concerning women’s economic and social rights, with a special focus on the promotion of the economic rights and independence of women, including their access to the job market, adequate working conditions and control of economic resources, and balancing professional and family life for both women and men.
