Speaker Meets With French Senate Foreign Relations and Defense Committee

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received a delegation of the French Senate Foreign Relations and Defense Committee, visiting Belgrade from 16 to 18 December 2010. The French delegation comprised Rene Beaumont, senator from the Saône-et-Loire region, and Bernard Piras from the Drom region, as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Belgrade, François -Xavier Deniau.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received a delegation of the French Senate Foreign Relations and Defense Committee, visiting Belgrade from 16 to 18 December 2010. The French delegation comprised Rene Beaumont, senator from the Saône-et-Loire region, and Bernard Piras from the Drom region, as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Belgrade, François -Xavier Deniau.

The Speaker briefed the guests on Serbia’s steps toward full-fledged EU membership expressing her pleasure at the fact that a lot of significant steps on that road have been taken this year. Beaumont shared words of support for Serbia’s becoming part of the European Union soon, expressing the Senate’s readiness to assist Serbia’s further steps toward the goal.

The members of the Foreign Relations and Defense Committee stated that both the support services and the parliamentarians should constantly further their knowledge because that is the only way towards social democratisation.
