Spanish Congress President Visits National Assembly

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today at the National Assembly House a delegation of the Congress of the Kingdom of Spain, headed by the President of the Congress Jose Bono Martines.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today at the National Assembly House a delegation of the Congress of the Kingdom of Spain, headed by the President of the Congress Jose Bono Martines. In addition to Mr. Martines, the delegation comprises Jordi Jane I. Guasch, Congress Vice-President and Celia Villalobos Talero, Congress Secretary.

The Spanish and Serbian Parliament Speakers discussed furthering interparliamentary cooperation, as well as all other forms of cooperation between the two countries. Martines was interested in the activities of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, so he attended part of today’s session of the Serbian Parliament.

The Assembly Speaker said that this was the opportunity to thank her counterpart on the behalf of the parliamentarians, citizens and Serbia for Spain’s official position regarding Serbia’s integrity and for its honest support of Serbia on the road to European integration.

Djukic-Dejanovic stated “We also talked about the deputies’ possible influence on certain economic trends that can and must take place between Spain and Serbia, as well as many other issues, air transport between Belgrade-Barcelona and Belgrade-Madrid, trade, potentials for cooperation in the spheres of defense, civil engineering, science, culture, health”.

Martines stated that he believed the visit deepened the relations between the Serbian and Spanish Parliaments and invited the National Assembly Speaker to visit the Spanish Congress during the country’s presidency of the EU.
