Sixty-Seventh Sitting of the Committee on Science and Technological Development
At the sitting held on 23 December, the Committee on Science and Technological Development considered, in principle, the Bill on the 2012 Budget of the Republic of Serbia, section 52 - Ministry of Education and Science, function 140, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Science Prof. Dr Radivoje Mitrovic presented the main points of the budget allocated to science: projects financed by the state – basic research and inter-disciplinary projects, current subsidies intended for non-financial public enterprises and organisations and scholarships for doctoral students. According to the envisaged budget, the expenditure intended for the salaries of Ministry of Education and Science employees is decreased, stated Mitrovic.
The Committee members were additionally briefed on some of the items of the envisaged budget, as well as the review of the expenditure of budgetary funds allocated for science. They spoke with the Ministry representative about the financial problems experience by the Kragujevac Small Grains Centre.
Following the debate, the Committee members adopted the Bill on the 2012 Budget of the
Committee Chairman Srboljub Zivanovic informed the Committee members about a meeting with representatives of Astronomical Society "Rudjer Boskovic" on Wednesday, 28 December, and invited them to attend.
