Sixth Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013

National Assembly Speaker Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic convened the Sixth Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013, for Friday, 30 August 2013, starting at 3 pm.


For the sitting, the Speaker set an agenda bearing one item: Election of and oath-taking by members of the Government.

On the first day of the session, following the exposition by Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, the National Assembly commenced a debate on the Proposal for the election of Government members.

In the course of the sitting, at the proposal of the Committee on Administrative, Budgetary, Mandate and Immunity Issues, the National Assembly noted the verification of the term of office of MPs Milutin Mrkonjic and Srdjan Dragojevic, who then proceeded to take the oath of office.

On the second day of the proceedings, 31 August, the National Assembly conducted the debate on the Proposal for the election of Government members.

On the third day, 2 September, the National Assembly continued the debate on the Proposal for the election of Government members.

In the course of the sitting, at the proposal of the Committee on Administrative, Budgetary, Mandate and Immunity Issues, the National Assembly noted the verification of the term of office of MPs Mladjan Dinkic, Verica Kalanovic and Suzana Grubjesic, who then proceeded to take the oath of office.

As the National Assembly had concluded the debate on the only item on the agenda, National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic set Monday, 2 September 2013, as Voting Day on the Proposal for the election of Government members, starting at 10.40 pm.

Voting Day

On Voting Day, 2 September 2013, by a majority of MPs’ votes, the National Assembly decided to vote on the Proposal for the election of Government members publicly, by roll call.

By 134 MPs’ votes in favour and 65 against, the National Assembly adopted the Decision on the election of Government members, no one abstained.

Lazar Krstic was elected Minister of Finance, Prof. Dr Nebojsa Rodic Minister of Defence, Igor Mirovic Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government, Sasa Radulovic Minister of Economy, Aleksandar Antic Minister of Transport, Prof. Dr Dragan Glamocic Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Prof. Dr Tomislav Jovanovic Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development, Ivan Tasovac Minister of Culture and Media and Vanja Udovicic Minister of Youth and Sport. Aleksandar Vulin and Branko Ruzic were elected ministers without portfolio.

Following the election, the members of the Government took the oath of office by reading the text of the oath as stipulated in the law and then signing the text of the oath.

National Assembly Speaker Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic congratulated the members of the Government on being elected and wished them success.

The national anthem of the Republic of Serbia was performed by Oktoih vocal ensemble from Belgrade.

The National Assembly also ruled on the violations of the Rules of Procedure the MPs complained of in the course of the sitting and decided that none of the provisions of the Rules of Procedure had been violated.

As the National Assembly had completed the debate on the only item on the agenda and ruled on it, National Assembly Speaker Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic concluded the Sixth Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2013.
