The Finance Committee held its sixth sitting on 24 September, chaired by the Committee Chairperson Jorgovanka Tabakovic.

The Finance Committee held its sixth sitting on 24 September, chaired by the Committee Chairperson Jorgovanka Tabakovic.

The members of the Committee added the item of determining the candidates for the election of the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia to the agreed agenda. The members of the Committee also discussed the Proposal for forming a Working Group for the control of financial reports of the regular work of political parties in 2006 and ascertaining the deadline for submitting the report to the Finance Committee, as well as the presentation of the programs of International organisations cooperating with the National Assembly Finance Committee.

The nomination of Radovan Jelasic for NBS Governor submitted by G17 Plus Deputies’ Group was presented to the Finance Committee. The nomination was elaborated on the behalf of the nominators by Suzana Grubjesic, Chairperson of the G17 Plus Deputies’ Group. In the discussion of the candidate the Committee Chairperson Jorgovanka Tabakovic emphasised that the decision on the nominations for NBS Governor is late. The decision on the nominations for members of the NBS Governor’s Council is also late due to the discordance between the existing Law on NBS and the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia. She added that two of the members’ of NBS Council mandates are coming to an end and that the Committee issued a request to the Deputies’ Groups in the National Assembly to submit lists of candidates as soon as possible. She proposed that the Committee brings a Conclusion in which NBS is asked to submit the NBS financial plan for 2006, the budget with the Auditor’s report for 2006 and monetary policy program for 2006 to the Finance Committee.

After the discussion the Committee accepted the nomination of Radovan Jelasic for NBS Governor, which they will forward to the National Assembly for adoption. The Committee named Committee member Branislav Jovanovic as envoy. Member of Parliament Slobodan Maras was exempt from the opinion.

The Committee went on to pass the Decision on forming a Working Group for the control of reports of Deputies’ Groups in 2006, which will conduct a control of the received reports within 30 days and prepare a report on the proposed Decisions which will be forwarded to the Committee for further procedure.
