At the sitting held on 23 December 2016 and closed to the public, the Security Services Control Committee reviewed and adopted the Military Security Agency Activity Report for the period 1 April – 30 September 2016.

The Committee also reviewed the minutes of the supervisory visit to the Military Security Agency Headquarters in Belgrade on 23 November 2016, and the Military Security Agency draft rulebook.

The members of the Security Services Control Committee gave a positive assessment of the work of the Military Security Agency’s personnel in the reported period, their engagement in the pursuit of the Agency’s priority tasks in combating organised crime and corruption, security and counterintelligence protection of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

The Military Security Agency Director informed the Committee members about the investigation into the theft of weapons from the Belgrade garrison army storage in November of the year, and the results it yielded.

The Committee members agreed that, in light of recent events, counter-terrorism activities need to be coordinated since security analyses have recognised the terrorist threat from the war-torn zones of the Middle East and northern Africa as a real security challenge for the entire Europe. The security situation in Serbia at the moment is stable, the security services monitor the situation and respond to it in line with their authority.
