Seventh Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 25 October, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee brought a Decision on the formation of deputy friendship groups with 42 countries of the world.



At the sitting held on 25 October, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee brought a Decision on the formation of deputy friendship groups with 42 countries of the world. The Committee also established the composition of the friendship groups, while their heads will be determined at a later date. The number of deputy groups in charge of cooperation with the parliaments of other countries, however, is not final and the possibility of forming friendship groups with other countries was announced. The sitting was chaired by Dragoljub Micunovic.

In the discussion of the upcoming cooperation, the Committee members accepted the initiative for a visit of the chairpeople of both Foreign Affairs Committees of the Parliament of Italy to Serbia in the second half of November. Serbia will be visited by the chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the House of Representatives, Umberto Ranieri and the chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Senate, Lamberto Dini. In addition, the initiative for the visit of the delegation of the Committee on European Affairs and Foreign Policy of the Dutch Parliament to Serbia, headed by the Committee Chairman, Harm Evert Waalkens was accepted.

Members of the Standing Delegation of the National Assembly of Serbia at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation will participate in the annual session of the assembly, held in Tbilisi, Georgia, from 19 to 22 November. In addition, members of the Standing Delegation of the National Assembly at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Parliamentary Dimension of the Central European Initiative have been invited to the assembly’s session held in Sofia from 20 to 22 November. Members of the Standing Delegation of the National Assembly at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean will take part in its Second session, held in Malta from 22 to 24 November.

Serbian parliamentarians will also participate in the parliamentary hearing held in New York on 20 and 21 November organised by the UN and IPU. The topic of the gathering is “Strengthening the Role of Law in International Relations: Key Role of the Parliament”, and the composition of the delegation will be determined at a later date.

In addition, several reports on realised visits and contacts of Serbian parliamentarians with representatives of parliaments of other countries were accepted.
