Seventh Sitting of the Election Campaign Supervisory Board

At the seventh sitting, held on 14 April 2022, the Election Campaign Supervisory Board considered the requests it had received concerning the breaking of pre-election silence and violations of the principle of equality.

Analysing the requests, the Supervisory Board concluded that during the pre-election silence there had been certain programme segments parts of which could be in conflict with Article 6, paragraph 3 of the Law on Election of MPs which states that it shall be forbidden, 48 hours before the Election Day and on the Election Day before the closing of polling stations, to publish estimates of election results, publicly present election candidates and their electoral programs, and invite voters to vote, or not to vote for certain electoral lists in the media and at public gatherings.

In view of that the Supervisory Board also like to point to the need to respect the provisions regulating the subject matter, especially Article 146, item 5) of the Law on Election of MPs which warns that when advertising political parties should not obstruct the election campaign and respect the equality of all candidates.

The sitting was chaired by Election Campaign Supervisory Board Chairman Svetislav Goncic and attended by the following members of the Supervisory Board: Prof. Dr Branko M. Rakic, Prof. Dr Miodrag Savovic, Jelena Milenkovic-Orlic, Aleksandar Stamatovic, Marjan Jovanovic, Samra Fetahovic and Boris Bajic.
