The Bill was elaborated by Andrijana Jovanovic, deputy head of the Commission for Public-Private Partnership, who said the amendments and modifications to the Law need to be passed to advance certain provisions, introduce a more efficient control of the financial impact of public-private partnership projects and adjust to international standards and best practice. Jovanovic said that, since the Law on Public-Private Partnership and Concessions was passed in 2011, it became evident that public-private partnership is the most realistic option for the realisation and development of national, local and regional projects. The Bill, among other things, would hone the formulation of certain provisions of the Law to prevent imprecise interpretation and improve the application of the Law in practice, as well as introduce more efficient control of the financial impact of public-private partnership projects since projects of this kind lead to fiscal and financial risk.

Following a debate the Committee members adopted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Public-Private Partnership and Concessions in principle.

Under item any other business the Committee Chairperson informed the members about the Minister of Economy Goran Knezevic’s memo regarding the appointment of a Committee member to the Commission conducting the competition for election of public enterprise directors. The Committee members also selected Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic and Prof. Dr Aleksandra Tomic to represent the Committee at the Regional Trade Workshop for parliamentarians from Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus, organised by the World Trade Organisation in Vienna.
