Seventeenth Sitting of the Committee on Justice and Administration

At the sitting held on 5 March, the Committee on Justice and Administration discussed in principle eight bills submitted by the Government and included into the agenda for the First Sitting of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2009. These are: the Bill on International Legal Aid in Criminal Matters, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Convention on Cybercrime, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and Financing of Terrorism, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime concerning the criminalisation of acts of a racist and xenophobic nature committed through computer systems, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Protocol amending the European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism and the Bill on Registry Books.

These are: the Bill on International Legal Aid in Criminal Matters, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Convention on Cybercrime, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and Financing of Terrorism, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime concerning the criminalisation of acts of a racist and xenophobic nature committed through computer systems, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism, the Bill on the Confirmation of the Protocol amending the European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism and the Bill on Registry Books.

The Committee ruled to propose that the National Assembly adopt the bills in principle.

At the sitting, the Committee also established several decision proposals on termination of office and dismissal of judges and public prosecutors.

The Committee adopted the Proposal of the Decision on the termination of judicial office, at their own request, of Mirka Bego and Arpad Bucu, municipal court judges in Mladenovac and Ada. Due to mandatory retirement, judicial office is terminated for Zorica Brkic, Dragoslav Ciric and Jovan Bicanin, municipal court judges in Titel, Babusnica and Nis, Andrija Kovacev, District Court judge in Zrenjanin, Snezana Janic-Lukinovic, Commercial Court judge in Belgrade and Jovan Milosev, judge of the Fifth Municipal Court in Belgrade.

The Committee adopted the Proposal of the Decision on the dismissal of Slobodan Kojadinovic from Pozarevac due to being found guilty of an offense which makes him unworthy to hold judicial office.

The Committee adopted the Proposal of the Decision on the termination of prosecutorial office terminating the office, at her own request, of Milica Predojevic-Andric, Municipal Public Prosecutor in Kikinda and Momcilo Antic, District Public Prosecutor in Gnjilane, due to mandatory retirement.

The Committee adopted the Proposal of the Decision on the termination of office of deputy public prosecutor of Sinisa Keseric and Sasa Nikolic, Deputy District Public Prosecutors in Novi Sad and Belgrade, at their own request. Due to mandatory retirement, the office of deputy public prosecutor is terminated for Milutin Miladinovic, Momcilo Kucinar and Mirko Bjelanovic, Deputy District Public Prosecutors in Leskovac, Smederevo and Krusevac.

The Committee members commenced a discussion on the Conclusion of the Privatisation Committee of the National Assembly recommending that the Committee on Justice and Administration consider the court procedures in the bankruptcy proceedings against RK Beograd company, on which they shall rule at the next sitting.

The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Bosko Ristic.
