Today, at the National Assembly House, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the Speaker of Parliament of the Kingdom of Norway, Thorbjorn Jagland, as part of his two-day visit to Serbia.

Welcoming the high guest on the behalf of the deputies of the National Assembly, Parliament Speaker Djukic-Dejanovic estimated that the visit will help deepen an already good cooperation between the two parliaments which should be furthered through the cooperation between the committees and friendship groups in both parliaments. Speaking of the National Assembly’s work, she particularly pointed out the need to strengthen its control role, which would, according to her, contribute to further democratise the society and intensify the combat against corruption and crime.

The Norwegian Parliament Speaker stressed that Norway, although not a European Union member itself, supports its expansion because it considers it beneficial, above all, for small countries like Serbia. He also stated that Norwegian companies are becoming increasingly interested in investing in Serbia.
