The chairman of the Committee on Relations with Serbs Living Outside Serbia of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Miljko Cetrovic, today met a Serbian Unity Congress (SUC) delegation headed by Jasmina Boulanger of San Francisco, United States.

The SUC officials expressed their pleasure at meeting Committee members, and emphasised their readiness to contribute to the preservation of Serbia’s cultural heritage and the improvement of its economy.

The Congress will this year again host ‘Serbian Days on Capitol Hill’, an event where Serbian-Americans will be able to meet senators and congresspersons to discuss their issues and those faced by their mother country. The SUC Convention is also to be the venue for an economic forum, where Serbian businessmen will get a chance to establish ties with US and Canadian companies. The SUC is also planning special events to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the scientist Nikola Tesla.

Committee members conveyed their appreciation for the SUC’s activities in unifying Serbian expatriates, and asked for its co-operation in putting across a more favourable image of Serbia. It was resolved for the Committee to publish a letter on the SUC website and in the Congress’ newsletter as a means of informing Serbians living abroad of the Committee’s activities and positions.

Committee members and the SUC delegation jointly concluded that a functioning link between the Serbian government and Serbian organisations abroad was needed if common aims were to be met.
