Serbian National Assembly Speaker Meets Republic of North Macedonia Delegation

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with a delegation of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Inter-Community Relations Ivan Stoilkovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Aleksandar Nikoloski and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timco Mucunski.

On the occasion, Speaker Brnabic expressed her satisfaction with the visit and congratulated North Macedonia on the formation of the new Government. She said that North Macedonia can always count on Serbia’s sincere support and partnership.

In the course of the meeting, the officials discussed the possibilities for furthering friendly relations between the two countries founded on their common history and close cultural ties. They put special emphasis on parliamentary cooperation, with mutual satisfaction that a parliamentary friendship group with Serbia was formed in the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. This initiative will further strengthen political and diplomatic relations, providing new opportunities for the improvement of bilateral dialogue.

Speaker Brnabic emphasised the importance of the Republic of North Macedonia for Serbia as an economic partner both in the field of foreign trade and investment. The officials also discussed the Protocol signed in Skopje, which enables the establishment of a free labour market within the Open Balkans initiative, which will contribute to improving the business environment and solving the problem of labour shortage.

Deputy Prime Minister Stoilkovic also expressed satisfaction with the strengthening of cooperation and stressed that strong and lasting ties between the two nations represent a solid basis for further improvement of cooperation at all levels. He added that they will actively work on ensuring participation in the upcoming exhibition EXPO 2027, which will be another important step forward in improving mutual relations and promoting the region.

At the end of the meeting, the officials concluded that both parties will focus on the implementation of concrete projects and initiatives, with the aim of further integration and improvement of relations between Serbia and North Macedonia, which will contribute to regional stability and prosperity.
