The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, comprising National Assembly Deputy Speaker Mr. Jovan Janjic, and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Marijan Risticevic, was in a one-day visit to Minsk on 9 May 2025.
In the course of the visit, the Serbian delegation met with representatives of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Council of the Republic, Mr. Sergei Nikolaevich Khomenko. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Sergei F. Aleinik, Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Relations and National Security of the Council of the Republic, as well as Dmitry Zh. Alexandrovich, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Serbia.
Both sides noted the good traditional and fraternal relations between the two countries, with no open issues. The Serbian delegation thanked the Republic of Belarus for its principled support for preserving the national interests of the Republic of Serbia, especially in relation to preserving our sovereignty and territorial integrity with regard to Kosovo-Metohija.
The Serbian side also conveyed the greetings of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. Ana Brnabic, to the Speaker of the Council of the Republic, Ms. Natalya I. Kochanova.
Both sides emphasised the importance of Victory Day, celebrated on 9 May, in view of all the sacrifices made by both countries during World War II, and noted the enormous significance of the visit of the President of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, to Moscow to attend the celebration of this important holiday.
The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia will attend the military parade marking Victory Day in World War II, in Minsk in the evening.
