Serbian Assembly Chairman Macedonian Parliament Speaker visit 50th Belgrade International Book Fair

The Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament, Ljupcho Jordanovski, ended his official visit to Belgrade by visiting the 50th Belgrade International Book Fair, at the invitation of the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic.


The Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament, Ljupcho Jordanovski, ended his official visit to Belgrade by visiting the 50th Belgrade International Book Fair, at the invitation of the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic. Mr Markovic and Mr Jordanovski were greeted by the art director of this year’s Fair, Zoran Hamovic; the two heads of parliament spent some time at the booth of the Textbook Publishing Agency, voted Publisher of the Year at this year’s Fair, where they talked to the Agency’s director, Rados Ljusic, and its editor-in-chief, Petar Pijanovic. The two parliamentary speakers also discussed the co-operation between the two countries in making it easier for children from ethnic minorities to obtain textbooks.
Mr Markovic underlined that both the Macedonian and the Serbian textbook publishers needed assistance from their respective governments in implementing aid programmes for ethnic minority children, as well as in the exchange of data for encyclopaedias and other large publishing projects. Mr Markovic also announced that Serbia and Macedonia would soon sign an accord on co-operation in this field.
