Serbia to Host Second Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians Next Year

Serbia has been presented as the host of the next, Second Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians, at the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, taking place in Geneva, from 19 to 23 October.

The Global Conference will be held in Belgrade, from 2 to 4 June 2026. It will be hosted by the National Assembly and is expected to be attended by over 500 female MPs and over a hundred parliamentary delegations from around the world. It is the central and only event for the participants of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians to be held outside the plenary sessions of the Inter-Parliamentary Union next year.

Member of the National Assembly standing delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, MP Ivana Stamatovic, thanked the attending on behalf of the National Assembly and our delegation for the trust shown in us to host this important gathering, which our Parliament will organise in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union. She especially thanked the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and now Minister Snezana Paunovic, who initiated this idea, as well as Cynthia López Castro, President of the IPU Bureau of Women Parliamentarians, who supported the idea to have the Global Conference in Serbia.

The National Assembly standing delegation, headed by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Edin Djerlek and also including MPs Mladen Grujic and Dijana Radovic, is taking part in the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
