Serbia and Algeria PFGs Meet

The Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria received a delegation from the Algeria-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly House.

The Head of the PFG with Algeria, Goran Rakic, welcomed the Algerian delegation on behalf of the Parliamentary Friendship Group and the National Assembly Speaker, emphasising the importance of the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries. He thanked Algeria for supporting the preservation of Serbia’s territorial integrity by not voting for the self-proclaimed independence of its southern province. Rakic expressed hope that in the future the relations between the two countries will continue to develop and grow in all areas.

In this context, PFG member MA Jadranka Jovanovic, particularly emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation through culture as a bridge of connection and understanding between peoples.

The Head of the Algeria-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Samira Barhoum, thanked the hosts for the warm welcome and expressed her keen interest in improving cooperation, especially in the field of economy. She also emphasised the importance of interparliamentary cooperation, noting that parliamentary friendship groups and parliamentary committees can play a key role in building a strategic partnership between Algeria and Serbia.

She stressed that Serbia will always have a sincere friend in the people of Algeria, who, she pointed out, will never forget the support that Yugoslavia once provided in resolving the Algerian issue.

The meeting was also attended by PFG members MA Danijela Nikolic, Dr Muamer Bacevac and Branislav Josifovic, who underlined the importance of and willingness to work on upgrading relations between the two countries and personally thanked the country for its friendly support in preserving the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.
