Security Services Control Committee in Supervisory Visit to Military Security Agency

In accordance with its 2019 Activity Plan, the Security Services Control Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia conducted a supervisory visit to the Military Security Agency.


The Committee delegation was headed by Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic and comprised Committee members and deputy members Marija Obradovic, Goran Pekarski, Dr Predrag Jelenkovic, Vladan Zagradjanin, Nemanja Radojevic and Aleksandar Markovic.

In the course of the visit to the Military Security Agency the delegation members supervised the legality of the implementation of special procedures and measures outlined in the Law on the Military Security Agency and Military Intelligence Agency and the implementation of special evidentiary actions in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code. Using random sample method and direct insight into documentation on closed cases, the Committee delegation ascertained that the Military Security Agency staff had acted professionally and in accordance with lawful procedure and that there had been no irregularities in the supervised cases.

One of the topics discussed during the supervisory visit were the latest security developments in the country and region. The security situation was found to require the active engagement of Serbia’s security services and the extent of cooperation and exchange of data with services and other authorities in charge of security in the Republic was discussed to that end. The cooperation and exchange of data between the authorities was found to be at an admirable professional level and that the Military Security Agency, in line with is duty as stipulated by law, is active and fully dedicated to shedding light to the newest developments affecting the security of the Republic of Serbia.

The Military Security Agency staff answered all of the Committee delegation’s questions and provided relevant information. In addition to supervising the legality of the Agency’s work, the Committee delegation also focused on examining the overall situation, technical readiness and potential to improve the Agency’s efficiency. The Committee delegation found that the Military Security Agency follows the security situation and reacts in line with its lawful duty. They gave a positive assessment of the Military Security Agency’s work and full support to its staff's further engagement on the realization of tasks within their purview.
