Security Services Control Committee Members Visit Security Services

The members of the Security Services Control Committee, headed by Committee Chairman Igor Becic, visited the Security Information, Military Security and Military Intelligence agencies.


In the course of the visit to the Military Security Agency, on the occasion of the 180th anniversary of the founding of the Agency, Agency Director Brigadier General Djuro Jovanic presented the Committee Chairman with the Military Security Agency Jubilee Gold Badge and the Committee Secretary with the Military Security Agency Jubilee Silver Badge.

The representatives of the security services informed the Committee members about the organization and work of the security services, as well as their activities and the procedure for implementing special measures in accordance with the Law on Security Information Agency, special procedures and measures in accordance with the Law on Military Security Agency and Military Intelligence Agency, and the implementation of special evidentiary actions in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code.

In the previous legislature, in line with its legal duties, the Security Services Control Committee carried out 11 supervisory visits to the security services. In the course of the supervisory visits, the Committee members directly inspected the legality of the implementation of special measures and procedures prescribed by law, as well as the legal exercise of authority in conducting special evidentiary actions prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code.

In the coming period, the Security Services Control Committee will continue to conduct visits to security services in order to monitor the constitutionality and legality of their operation, as well as to exercise its powers in the supervision and control over the work of the security services, including supervision over the legality of the implementation of special procedures and measures for confidential data collection.

The Committee members mostly focused on examining the current situation, technical equipment and possibilities for improving the efficiency of the security services and stated that they would continue to endorse the improvement of the material position of the members of security services and the operational and technical equipment of the security services to ensure their timely response to tasks within their competence.

The Committee members praised the improvement of cooperation and exchange of information with domestic and foreign security services, leading to an increased efficiency in verification of data and information and in turn contributing to greater reliability of assessments and strengthening of trust and cooperation between agencies.

In addition to Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic, the Committee delegation also included Committee members and deputy members: Aleksandar Markovic, Goran Pekarski, Ilija Zivotic, Borisav Kovacevic, Dusko Tarbuk, Justina Pupin Koscal and Andrijana Avramov.
