Second Sitting of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 19 October, the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee considered the Ministry of Defence activity information for the periods January-March, April-June and July-September 2016.


On the behalf of the Ministry of Defence the sitting was attended by Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nenad Neric, Deputy Commander of the Joint Operation Command of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Major General Slavoljub Janicijevic and Head of the Peacekeeping Operations Centre of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Colonel Milivoje Pajovic.

The Ministry activity information was presented by Minister of Defence Zoran Djordjevic. He said that the Ministry mainly focused on combating terrorism and on migratory movements, and that the Serbian Armed forces had, in the reporting period, carried out a considerable number of tasks and activities. He emphasised the Ministry’s attention to gender equality in the Armed Forces, stressing that the number of women in the Army has risen to 19.99%. Among others, Djordjevic announced that the Ministry of Defence was preparing a number of amendments and modifications to a wide spectrum of laws directly connected to the functioning of the Serbian Armed Forces.

The Committee accepted the Ministry of Defence activity information for the periods January-March, April-June and July-September 2016, by majority vote.

The Committee also considered and adopted by majority vote the Proposal of the Decision on the Adoption of the Annual Plan for the use of the Serbian Armed Forces and other defence forces in multinational operations in 2016 and the Proposal of the Decision on the participation of Serbian Army personnel in multinational operations in 2016, submitted by the Government.

Under any other business, the Committee members also adopted the proposal of Committee Chairperson Marija Obradovic to have all the Committee sittings recorded and that the audio records be made component part of the minutes.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Marija Obradovic, and was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Momcilo Mandic, Vesna Rakonjac, MA Jasmina Nikolic, Marko Djurisic, Marko Blagojevic, Bozidar Delic, Aleksandar Markovic, Borisav Kovacevic, Gordana Comic, Zoran Radojicic, Prof. Dr Zoran Dragisic, Vladan Zagradjanin, Dubravka Filipovski and Jasmina Obradovic.
