Second Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the sitting held on 4 November 2020, the members of the Culture and Information Committee considered the Proposal of the Decision to launch the procedure for the nomination of candidates for the election of members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media proposed by authorised nominators: competent committee of the National Assembly, as well as churches and religious communities, by mutual agreement.


Committee Chairperson Sandra Bozic informed the members that on 27 October 2020 the Culture and Information Committee had received a memo from the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media that Council member Olivera Zekic’s term of office had expired on 24 July 202 and that the term of office of Council member Aleksandra Jankovic was to expire on 3 March 2021. The Committee then unanimously adopted the Proposal of the Decision to launch the procedure for the nomination of candidates for the election of members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media proposed by authorised nominators: competent committee of the National Assembly, as well as churches and religious communities, by mutual agreement.

The Committee, also unanimously, adopted the proposed text of the two public calls for nomination of candidates for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media. The calls will be sent to the parliamentary groups and independent MPs in the National Assembly, as well as churches and religious communities. The public calls will also be published on the National Assembly’s webpage, in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia and in daily newspapers with nation-wide coverage.

Under any other business, Committee Chairperson informed the Committee members that on 4 November 2020 the request of the Ministry of Culture and the Media to retract the collective list of candidates for member of the National Council for Culture was logged. The Committee adopted the request, withdrawing the list from the procedure
