Second Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society

At the sitting held on 9 December, the members of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society considered the establishment of a Subcommittee on Youth and Sports, proposed by Committee member Goran Spasojevic, and the establishment of a Subcommittee on the Information Society and Digitalisation, proposed by Committee member Marina Ragus.


The proposal for the establishment of the Subcommittee on Youth and Sports states that the task of the Subcommittee would be to consider and monitor the implementation of bills and other acts in the field of sports and youth, physical culture. The Subcommittee would considers the activity plans and reports of the competent ministry and other state bodies and organisations. It would consider initiatives, petitions and proposals within its scope, follow the National Sports Development Strategy which determines the situation in the field of sports at the time it is passed, the basic principles the development of sports in the Republic of Serbia is based on, short-term, periodic and long-term sports development goals and the scope and estimated value of the activities related to the realisation of the set sports-development goals, obligations and tasks of public authorities of all levels and those in charge of sports programmes related to the realisation of the set sports-development goals. It would also follow school and university sports and physical education of children of all ages and the work of the National Council for the Prevention of Negative Incidents in Sports, Sports Council and deal with the preparation of proposals on these issues.

The proposal for the formation of the Subcommittee on the Information Society and Digitalisation states that the task of that Subcommittee would be, among other things, to consider bills and other general documents and other issues concerning digitalisation and digital technologies, to analyse the adequacy of the existing legal framework in light of the development of digitalisation and digital technology and initiate amendments to the laws governing this area, monitor the implementation of international documents in the field of digitalisation and digital technologies and the work of other countries’ parliamentary committees concerning digitalisation. It would also deal with the protection of the right to privacy on the Internet, encouraging communication using digital technologies and electronic communication (the Internet, e-commerce, education via the Internet), considering and encouraging initiatives for the development and improvement of industries based on digital technologies. The Subcommittee would also examine and assess the impact of the digitalisation process on areas within the scope of other committees and inform the parent committee about significant developments in the field of digitalisation, as well as promote the use of digital technologies in the work of the National Assembly, including the digitalisation process.

The Committee unanimously adopted both proposals.
