Second Meeting of Economic Caucus and Representatives of Association International Transport

The Head and members of the Economic Caucus met today, at the National Assembly House, with the representatives of International Transport, business association of international cargo transporters.

The meeting was scheduled at the initiative MP Zoran Babic launched at the previous Caucus meeting so as to draft an authentic interpretation of Article 118 of the Labour Law which would be in force until a Law amending and modifying the Labour Law is passed.

After last week’s first working meeting with International Transport, the members of the business association addressed the Head of the Economic Caucus, Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, with a problem they come up against when claiming cost reimbursement for time spent in foreign business travel.

In today’s meeting they discussed possible ways to overcome the problem which gave rise to a debate whether the authentic interpretation of the disputed article of the Law should be provided by the National Assembly, relevant committee or the Government. They also wondered what legislation should be amended so as to prevent a recurrence of these problems.

Following the debate, the Head of the Caucus, Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, suggested organising another meeting of the National Caucus, National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) and the International Republican Institute (IRI) in the near future where they would join forces in finding a positive solution to the problem so that other business companies might not be affected by it.

In addition to the Head of the Economic Caucus, Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, the meeting was attended by Caucus member Dejan Radenkovic and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, NALED and IRI.
