Ragus and Botsan-Kharchenko Discuss Parliamentary Cooperation

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus met today with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.

Ragus and Botsan-Kharchenko discussed the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, especially that at the level of working bodies, namely their foreign affairs committees, as well as at the level of the parliamentary groups.

Ragus thanked the Russian Ambassador for his country's support for Serbia in the UN, especially for the actions of the Russian representative at the recent UN General Assembly, which the Serbian people will remember and which additionally confirm our countries’ traditional friendship. She reaffirmed that Serbia will not give up on its friends and bilateral partners and thanked the Russian Federation for supporting Serbia in all international institutions as regards preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko said that it was obvious in the UN that most countries were either against or not in the mood for the resolution on Srebrenica, which he opined was completely anti-Serbian. He also added that for his country the international organisations’ decisions related to so-called Kosovo are unacceptable.

Ragus and Botsan-Kharchenko also exchanged opinions on current geo-political issues, and the Ambassador delivered written congratulations from Grigori Karasin, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, to the National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee on assuming the new posts.
