On the occasion, the officials discussed the establishment of a parliamentary friendship group with Qatar at the National Assembly and modalities of future cooperation between the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups, with a special focus on Serbia’s readiness to advance cooperation with the State of Qatar in the fields of economy, culture, education, etc.

Zukorlic said that the Republic of Serbia is pursuing a policy of general openness and the relevant authorities are doing all in their power to alleviate the potential investors’ realisation of important investment projects.

He also said that the State of Qatar is an excellent example how a geographically and generally not such a big country can make itself an important factor in the region and provide an ample offer of projects across the world.

In the course of the meeting Zukorlic said that he would be most pleased to, after the PFG with Qatar is set up in the National Assembly, put his knowledge of the Arab world and experiences relating to cooperation with Muslim countries, at the service of advancing the relations between the two countries, stressing that an important element of his reconciliation policy would be to make Muslims in Serbia the bridge of cooperation with Muslim countries.

Ambassador Al-Thani agreed that the possible cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the State of Qatar has vast potential and the parliamentary friendship groups would help transform the relatively new relations between the two states into full capacity cooperation at mutual pleasure.
