Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic Receives Representatives of Textbook Institute

Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society, met today with representatives of the Textbook Institute headed by Dr Milorad Marjanovic, acting director and editor-in-chief.

Marjanovic stressed that it is vital to pass a law on the Institute to regulate its status and inform the public about its scope of activity. Speaking of the Institute’s current problems, he said that as a public enterprise it has to be under the control of public finance auditors and abide by the Law on Public Procurement which gives private publishers an advantage because they can eschew the public tender procedure. The representatives of the Institute said that they will deal with the internal problems of changes in structure and organization, but they do need help to deal with outside challenges.

Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society, emphasized the importance of the Textbook Institute as national publisher, keeper of the script, tradition, history and culture of the Serb people. He stressed that the Institute will always have the support and help of the Committee and MPs who had taken it upon themselves to work in the interest of Serbia and its people by taking the oath of office before the National Assembly.

He praised the Institute’s initiative, adding that its employees should be more active in the fight for better working conditions.

The meeting was also attended by Committee members Prof. Dr Milan Knezevic and Natasa St. Jovanovic who said that the Institute should ask for help from the Ministry and Government and would not lack the support of the MPs.
